AM3 platform

Socket AM3 is designed to enable next-generation platform innovations such as DDR2 &DDR3memory. This processor corresponds to AM3 platform. However, the socket is the same as AM2+, and it operates also in the Socket AM2+ platform depending on the correspondence of BIOS. However, some functions that cannot correspond are completely provided in AM2+ platform.

  • The AMD PhenomII Quad-Core Processor 900 series has four CPU cores on Dye. Each core has the 512KB level 2 cache. The third cache memory is shared by each core, and the capacity is 6MB.

AM2+ platform

This processor corresponds to AM2 + platform. However, the socket is the same as AM2, and it operates also in the Socket AM2 platform depending on the correspondence of BIOS. However, some functions that cannot correspond are completely provided in AM2 platform. For instance, it is not possible to correspond to the Split Power Plane.

  • The AMD Phenom Quad-Core Processor 9000 series has four CPU cores on Dye. Each core has the 512KB level 2 cache. The third cache memory is shared by each core, and the capacity is 2MB. The AMD Phenom 8000 series should not buy Rev.B2. Because it has the TLB bug. We will recommend Phenom of newer Rev.B3 to be bought.

  • Phenom X3 [ AMD Phenom Quad-Core Processors]
  • The AMD Phenom Triple-Core Processor 8000 series has three CPU cores in Dye. Each core has the 512KB level 2 cache. The third cache memory is shared by each core, and the capacity is 2MB. There is no AMD Phenom8000 series Rev.B2 in the market. Even if it is sold, it should not buy it. We recommend newer Rev.B3 Phenom.

Socket S1(638pin)

The Socket S1 processor is for note PC. These CPU has lowered power consumption by "PowerNow and low voltage Deeper Sleep state". The Socket S1 processor has power equal with the AM2 processor. Moreover, they support "AMD Virtualization" and dual channel DDR-2 memory. It shifted to 65nm SOI process though these were released with 90nm SOI. This photograph is Turion 64 X2 of 90 nm product.
